How is having a girl different than having boys

You guys, I get asked about how having a girl has been different than having boys so often that I actually wanted to put that into words. We are barely 4 months into this having a girl thing so this will definitely change with time.

As a mom to three boys, 6, 4, and 2.5 as well as 1 girl almost 4 months, I have had a lot of time to think and day dream about having a girl during our baby making years. I have loved having boys and frankly it wasn't until my 3rd pregnancy that I started wondering and really thinking about having a girl.

My pregnancies with the boys were all similar whereas my pregnancy with the girl was very different. No nausea or vomiting with the boys' pregnancy but nausea and vomiting were constant with the girl's pregnancy (well the nausea was and the vomiting was only a few times). My deliveries were all the same, quick and easy :).

All my babies, regardless of their sex, have been pretty much the same so far. They were all average weight at birth (7ish pounds) which made for easy deliveries. Once they were out, they ate really well, gained lots of weight quickly, and refused to sleep through the night for a very long time :).

My kids all look alike when they are babies so baby girl look just like her brothers did at this age. Unless I put a bow on her head most people assume that she is a boy, oh the irony. In our short almost 4 months with baby girl, having a girl has been pretty much the same as having boys.

Now, the one super fun thing that has been completely different with having a girl has been wearing matching bows with my mini-me. I clearly never did that with the boys and it has been so much fun to match with baby girl.

Chilling with my mini-me in our matching bows :)
First trip to NYC for my baby girl and we are rocking matching bows ;)
I only planned to do it a few times but it has been so much fun that I bought a huge collection of matching bows for us. I give you permission to call me crazy
We had our Fall photoshoot last weekend and of course we were rocking matching bows
Check out my boys in the background :)
I love our photographers so much, they are so good with the kids and always do such a great job

They sent me this awesome sneak peek and I died over the cuteness of my baby girl with those sweet cheeks. I can't wait to see the final product
I guess having all the girly things has been the real difference with having a girl; I am loving all of it especially since she is my one and only girl after 3 boys. I love that I get to experience raising 3 boys and 1 girl and all the fun things that come with having both. My boys are always attached to my hip and my girl is always matching with me :). I am one blessed mama and these 4 kids of mine are a total dream come true. I love having 3 boys and 1 girl.

  1. What a beautiful family you have. It's amazing how alike your children look. I have a girl and I enjoy the matching bows as well. Please can you share where you got yours. I think it is going to be even more fun when she's a bit older and we can match at least until she's too cool for mum :)

  5. Definitely not crazy. I love all the hair bow pictures!

Pregnancies are definitely different. I didn't really have nausea with either and I only vomited once with each of them. Interesting. I guess there is something about the combined hormone level. I did get a VERY enhanced sense of smell. I could smell things from a mile away! LOL :)
