I got my hair relaxed this week and I am so loving my hair right now. It's doing everything that I want it to do and the length is perfect. I must say I am very happy with where we are. I am only 3in away from my dream goal of waist length, woop woop. After I reach that goal, I am going to need to find a new obsession :). I hope to be there next Summer but with a 2in trim and potential hair loss after the baby who knows.
I am BSL again, woop woop. (I get excited to see my hair this straight because I only wear it this straight after a relaxer)
My regimen is super low key now. I don't really want to do much because "ain't nobody got time for that" :) plus I have 2 kids and another one on the way and it's not really an option.
I wash my hair once a week and maintain it for the rest of the week. I usually wash on Saturday because it's easier. I only use 4 products altogether. After trying so many different things, I decided that enough was enough. I use shampoo, deep conditioner, moisturizer, hair oil and that's it. Here are my easy steps:
- As soon as I wake up in the morning, before getting the kids up, I shampoo and put the deep conditioner in.
- I get the kids up and make breakfast while the conditioner is working, multitasking at its finest
- After breakfast, it's bath time for the boys so I put them in the bath while I rinse my hair.
- I put some moisturizer in my hair and I let it air dry. A few hours later, I put some oil in my hair and style as desired.
- Some weekends, I have the energy to blow dry and curl or flat iron (usually if we are going out somewhere) but most of the time I don't even do that.
During the week I usually wear my hair in a bun or simply up. Unless of course I was brave enough to style it on the weekend then I wear it out because I can. Here are some of my favorite styles. I love all of these because none of them take more than 5 minutes in the morning.
Low bun with lots of hair pulled out
Low ponytail
High ponytail
Single braid (PS - I love that my hair is long and thick enough for a single braid now)
Wrap around bun
When I put a little effort into doing my hair on the weekend then it's down most of the week
I must say I love it when I actually style my hair after a wash, it has that extra something special
My hair is thriving, it's not growing as fast as I hoped but it's definitely doing well. I know there will be some hair loss after this baby but I also know we will recover from that. So I will enjoy my hair for the next 6 months and then we'll see what happens (or should I say, I will cry my eyes out). What are you doing to your hair these days? are you loving it?
Oh, it's looking so good! All your hard work is paying off. :) I love all the styles, but I really love the look in this last photo, with all your hair down, but curled at the ends. So pretty. Have you tried doing a French twist with it? I've always really liked that look, too, so classically elegant.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, with the post-baby hair thing. I'm dreading that, too, but there's nothing for it but to just grin and bear it. I was thinking of having my hair layered the next time I have it trimmed, but now that I think about it, that's probably not a good idea right now... Layering thins out the length, which is fine now, but when I start shedding it like crazy after the baby gets here? I'm going to want all the thickness I can muster. Ugh. The things we go through for our children, right? ;)
omg your hair looks so amazing and HEALTHY!! Look at that shine! I would love to get to your length one day. Last summer, my hair was close to BSL, but after wearing a weave for TOO long, I had a set back. :( I learned from that though and will now wear my weaves for shorter amounts of time. I'm loving your low key regimen too! I have read so many hair blogs and watched tons of hair youtube videos, and I agree with you..."ain't nobody got time for that!" Wash, condition, moisturize and seal and keep it moving!!! How often do you relax and do you do it yourself?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about any potential hair loss, it's just hair and as you said, it will come back. Clearly you have resilient hair!
Also wanted to add, you have a TESTIMONY to tell with your edges! I love it!! That JBCO did wonders for you! I need to get some for my entire head!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks so good! I think you've found what works for you and you're sticking to it! I love the styles you do too!
ReplyDeleteThe way your hair recovered both babies I think your hair will recover again just as nicely!
Very pretty!! I'm about 2" past BSL right now and I don't do much to mine either.. I relax MAYBE 3 times a year sometimes 2.. I wash, deep condition and use Olive Oil lotion.. I will take some pics and post, but I HATE taking my picture! LOL.. You have that pregnancy beauty and you are WORKING IT! I agree with everyone else, your hair is gonna bounce back after baby, no worries!!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair! It is thick and long! What you're doing is definitely working.
ReplyDeleteI am finally starting to feel somewhat normal again so I am in the process of establishing a hair routine.
yay for healthy hair!! I can relate to the frustration of waiting for your hair to grow and get healthy. when i was 23 i had THE WORST hair experience. I went to a fancy salon and they ruined my hair. They basically dumped bleach on it and it all broke off. I went from having waist length curly hair to have straggly below the shoulder hair. my mom cried when she first saw my hair when I got home!!!! it was that bad!!!
ReplyDeleteanyways it took forever to grow out (i had the dye job fixed in the interim) and reading these posts reminds me of that situation.
your hair is looking so awesome and thick, fingers crossed this pregnancy does wonders for it :)
You look beautiful!! You are definitely glowing. I love the thickness of your hair...that is something I've definitely missed out on. My hair did not grow any faster during this pregnancy (my hair grows so incredibly slow). But I have noticed some added thickness. I'll be sad when it is gone!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving you hairstyles! I usually do the same ole' low pony every single day and I've been pretty much in a hair rut since I was born, lol!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a head full of healthy hair. It looks so soft and shiny--very healthy. I like the hairstyles you posted too.
ReplyDeleteI got some hairstyle ideas from your post. Thanks for posting! Your hair looks fab. Don't you just love the positive effects pregnancy has on your hair?!?! When I was pregnant with Abby my hair was the longest and fullest it had ever been.
ReplyDeleteYour hair is looking so shiny and long! You are doing a great job of taking care of it. I have never heard of hair loss as a pregnancy symptom but I'm not surprised. I hear about new ones all the time. I've been slowly but surely trying to grow out my hair. Hope it gets as long as yours soon!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is so shiny and healthy! Jealous....!! Especially during pregnancy! Keep up the good work! You're inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! i JUST WENT THOUGH THE TRANSITION OF CUTTING IT ALL OF IN APRIL. NOW I JUST WENT WITH THE CASSIE LOOK! SHAVED BOTH SIDES....ONE DAY I'LL GROW IT BACK ALL THE WAY. YOU HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL I LOVE IT!! PLEASE EXCUSE THE CAPS NOT TRYING TO YELL...
ReplyDeleteLooks so healthy & pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks really good! I just had a baby 5 months ago. My hair started shedding when he was 3 months old and it just stopped 3 weeks ago. I must say it was not as bad as I had anticipated, but it was shocking how much hair was shedding. I recently start getting the Brazilian Blowout in March after not having a relaxer since last October. It's pretty cool and I am happy with it!
