Weekend fun - Anniversary celebrations

We had a great weekend getaway celebrating our anniversary. When we got married, hubby and I decided that we would always take a trip of some sort to celebrate every anniversary. We are not really big on gifts because we get things when we want them and not just for birthdays and anniversaries (instant gratification what up.) Since we love to travel together, anniversary trips made sense for us.

On our actual anniversary, we celebrated with dinner out without the kids. Since my mom volunteered to watch the kids for us we couldn't pass it up. Before we left I of course subjected my hubby to a photoshoot, wait you don't do that. You are clearly missing something :).

Waiting patiently for our food
For our first anniversary we didn't go anywhere, I mean I had Tman 4 days prior and was not in any state to do anything. I was so bummed about missing out on a trip but I had the best present anyone could ask for on their first anniversary :).

For our second anniversary, we went to Cancun with Tman in tow and had a ball. That is when I decided that I wanted to do the Carribean or Mexico every year :).

For our third anniversary we went to a local resort for the weekend because I was 37 weeks pregnant with my Jbird and a trip out of the country was out of the question.

For our fourth anniversary we went to Jamaica for a whole week without the kids. Actually we were 8 weeks pregnant with Bean so technically we had one kid in tow :).

This year, to celebrate our fifth anniversary, we took a weekend trip to a local resort. Though I was not heavily pregnant, I had a 5-month old baby that is still nursing that I didn't want to leave behind for too long. My mom watched all 3 kids for us while we took a break from the everyday hustle and bustle.

We left early on Saturday morning to make the most of the day. We got to the area bright and early and since we couldn't check in right away, we decided to have breakfast. It was so enjoyable :)
After breakfast we headed to the hotel to take advantage of the early check in option (check out hubby lugging around our suitcase and my breast pump)
Once we were were checked in we decided to take a walk around the harbor so that we knew what there was to do around the place. We loved the area and will definitely bring the boys back here to hang out

There is this awesome ferris wheel that looks like the London eye, we had to ride it.

Waiting in line and taking random pictures of our feet :)

After the ferris wheel and walking around for a bit, we went to Ben and Jerry's for some ice cream. We came back to the hotel where we enjoyed a glorious nap. By the time we got up from our nap, it was time to get ready for dinner.
Night picture with the ferris wheel, woop woop
We enjoyed a nice dinner on the water while watching fireworks. It was so romantic. The best is when the waiter asked us if we were on our honeymoon or something. I guess we still behave like newlyweds, 5 years and 3 kids later :).
We walked around the harbor after dinner, it was the perfect romantic setting. We came back to the room so that I could pump before going out clubbing. Ah the life of a nursing mom.
Since the hotel had a private night club on the top floor overlooking the city in the horizon, I convinced my hubby that we had to check it out. Though he wasn't excited at the idea of clubbing, he indulged his crazy wife

In the elevator on our way up
Hubby's "not so excited" faces say it all :).

We slept like babies that night, a whole 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Best sleep I've had in a while. We got up, got ready and went to brunch.
Hubby decided to watch the Arsenal game on the Iphone while we were waiting for our food. Men and their sports I tell you.
After breakfast we went to build a bear to make some teenage mutant ninja turtle stuffed animals for the boys. Ah the life of a parent, no matter how much you want to get away from your kids, they are constantly at the forefront of your brain.

Stuffing Mikey :)
We made those stuffed tmnt for our boys.
After we checked out of the hotel, we went shopping for some suit for hubby before heading home. The boys were so happy to see us and we were too.

Selfie time in the elevator. Bye bye hotel, you've been good to us
We spent some time on the deck enjoying the great weather and grilling for dinner once we got home. Hubby handling the grill like a boss with my mom and aunt
Me and my boys
I love my family
We really enjoyed our mini getaway. We feel rejuvenated and ready to jump back into our crazy life with 3 kids and no sleep. We loved the resort and the fact that it was so close to home. We will definitely come back. There is clearly a pattern in our anniversary celebrations. I guess next year should be the awesome Caribbean or Mexican getaway. Hopefully I am not heavily pregnant ;).
