Weekend fun - A mini getaway

Last weekend was wet around these parts and we did absolutely nothing productive with our lives and we loved it. The weekend before on the other hand was the weekend before hubby's birthday and since we have the best family support, we decided to leave the kids and take a  mini getaway. We booked 2 nights at a resort not too far from us that we wanted to check out for a few years and off we went.

We dropped the kids at my parents house after work on Friday. Our agenda for the whole weekend was rest, eat and rest some more. A perfect agenda if you ask me and this mini getaway definitely delivered.

After we checked in, we went straight for dinner. We were so hungry that I ordered way too much food, never buy food on an empty stomach

We slept like babies that night. Seriously, I slept more than 10 hours. Hubby decided to let me sleep in since that was the theme of the getaway.

The resort was absolutely beautiful. The weather wasn't superb but it was definitely nice enough to walk around and soak in the beauty.

We'll definitely be back in the Summer when it is sweltering hot and we can jump in the pool

It was such a nice relaxing afternoon. We left the pool after a couple of hours and took an awesome nap. Resting was the theme of this vacation and for sure we milked it. When we woke up from our nap, it was dinner time.

We had another awesome night. While we were chilling in the room, I made hubby take a few selfies as I do. The things you do when you have too much time on your hand :)

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast the next morning which I was so happy about since we missed breakfast the day before. Do you see a theme here, eating, sleeping, repeat.

Since it was a much nicer day, we went for some putt putt after breakfast

And before we knew it, we had to head home. One last selfie before we go :)

It was such an awesome mini vacation. We left feeling recharged and rejuvenated :). We are so lucky for our awesome family support. Despite having 3 very young kids we are able to get away once in a while. I think we might make this a trimester event, it was just such a great break from our hectic lives. Do you do mini getaways? Family Pics Fall 2015

Our family pics are here and they are amazing. Seriously, I am not even kidding when I tell you that I loved every single picture. This is our third photoshoot with these awesome photographers and the way they work with kids is refreshing. Though my kids are always running around everywhere and seem to not be interested, they somehow manage to capture some awesome shots that represent our family perfectly.

My absolute favorite family pic, everyone is looking and smiling, is that a miracle or what. I am blowing this picture up and putting it on our walls

We had the photoshoot done at a nearby park. I was inspired by a picture on pinterest on a bridge and decided that I wanted pictures on a bridge with water in the background. A great concept unless you have kids that just want to jump in the water. It was tricky, we had to hold their hands so tight the whole time.

We did get this gem where no one is looking but hubby. I still like the vibe of the shot

Then we moved on to individual portraits and these did not disappoint. She captured the boys perfectly.

Then we tried to get all 3 together but someone was always running away, I do love the double team shots that we got. Jbird held on to Thomas the entire photoshoot, that's his favorite thing right now

And my boys are just hilarious, Tman and that mischieviuos smile, Jbird completely focused on his Thomas the train and Bean so into that apple. This picture is everything

I am so glad that we do yearly pictures. When I look back at all the ones that we've done, I am always amazed at how much the boys have grown and how different their personalities are. Weekend fun - Homework, a photoshoot and a date

Last weekend was a fairly low key weekend, we had lots of small activities but we also had some great breaks in between. On Saturday we all cheered Tman at his first soccer game. He did amazing. I am sure there are going to be loads more games in store for us.

Once a month, the daycare that the boys attend is open on a Saturday so that the parents can get a break from their kids. We never took advantage of that option but we've decided that once a month it's not so bad to take a break and have an adult meal without chasing our kids. So after Tman's soccer game, we dropped the kids off at daycare and went out on a date.

We went to late lunch were we enjoyed a nice meal and some adult beverages :)

After lunch, we went for a walk, hubby was annoyed that I kept taking pics of us walking, does he not know me and my picture obsession?

Then we enjoyed some ice cream and chilled for bit before going to pick up the kids

We were smiling ear to ear after a few hours and I asked hubby to give me his best smiley face he showed all his teeth (which he never does) :)

We are knee deep in homework land. Tman gets a long list of homework every week and we have to do it a little bit every day to ensure that he finishes. It's a work in progress and he is getting better at it everyday.

On Sunday we had our family pictures taken. It's my favorite thing to do every year and this year did not disappoint. We've been using the same photographers for the last 3 photo sessions. The boys were crazy and ran around like headless chicken but I know these girls will get us some gems. I am so excited to see the final result.

After the photoshoot, we came home took a nap then went out to meet with our friends at the park. Bean was asleep when we left so hubby stayed at home with him. My grandma joined me for the fun. We let the boys run around the park and wear themselves out for hours

When we got home, Tman and Jbird passed out within 30 minutes and we didn't see them until the morning. Another great weekend in the books. We did a lot of fun things but it definitely did not feel overwhelming. We are enjoying the last beautiful days of the season. Once it gets super cold I will be hibernating, I don't do anything out in the cold. My African blood can't take it. Hope you had a great weekend too.
